Amy Hennig (Uncharted) to direct a new video game based on Star Wars; first details

Star Wars will star in a new video game from the co-creator of the Uncharted franchise. Amy Hennig will lead the project as part of the Skydance New Media team, which she founded in 2019 along with Julian Beak, an industry veteran. We know it will be an action-adventure that will tell "an original story" based on the franchise.

Douglas Reilly, vice president of Lucasfilm Games, shared the firm's excitement at working with Amy again, "She and the Skydance New Media team have the talent and ambition to create a unique Star Wars adventure. Their vision for making inviting, cinematic interactive entertainment makes this collaboration very exciting." Reilly concludes by advising that they will share more details "when the time is right."

On the other hand, Hennig explained how Star Wars shaped him as a young man. "I’ve often described how seeing Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, shaping my creative life and future indelibly," she said. "I’m elated to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love."

Star Wars, the second project of Skydance New Media

The studio, which has not yet published any work, has high-level licenses in its two unveiled projects. In order to know the first one, we must go back to October 29, 2021. On that date, it was Hennig herself who announced her collaboration with Marvel Entertainment.

“I can’t imagine a better partner than Marvel for our first game,” said Hennig, during the announcement. “The Marvel Universe epitomizes all the action, mystery, and thrills of the pulp adventure genre that I adore and lends itself perfectly to an interactive experience. "It’s an honor to be able to tell an original story with all the humanity, complexity, and humor that makes Marvel characters so enduring and to enable our players to embody these heroes that they love,” she concluded.
