Final Fantasy 16 is in the final stages of development

It has been months since Square Enix offered the most recent news of Final Fantasy XVI, the long-awaited new installment of the saga. The studio does not want to get ahead of itself and prefers to show it when it is truly ready to do so. Now, in an interview with Uniqlo's free magazine, producer Naoki Yoshida has confirmed that the title is in the final stage of development.

The RPG franchise will receive a collection of clothing inspired by the fifteen numbered titles in the series, which is why Yoshida has been present in the new issue of this magazine. "Development of the latest title, Final Fantasy XVI, is in its final stages," he revealed. According to the creative, this RPG focuses its attention on "integrating the story" and its gameplay within a single-player experience. “Unlike online, which portrays multiple players simultaneously, Final Fantasy XVI focuses on the individual.”

Yoshida said that this design makes the story "more immersive". In fact, he described it as "very dense". He then added. “As an adult, I learnt about society and said to myself ‘reality is not as easy as a video game’. I hope that those who once left Final Fantasy will remember how exciting their passion for video games was back then.”

News in spring?

The coronovirus pandemic has taken its toll on many development studios, which have been forced to adapt to an unprecedented situation. Faced with the increase in the number of infections, many companies decided to implement remote work, which in the case of large developers has resulted in delays. This is exactly what has happened with Final Fantasy XVI, which due to various problems related to COVID-19 has suffered complications. However, in a statement published at the end of 2021, the producer anticipated news for spring.

"I am happy to announce the current plan is to conduct our next big reveal in spring of 2022”." Final Fantasy XVI is planned exclusively for PlayStation 5, with no release date yet.
