Ubisoft takes steps to prevent any hostile takeovers or acquisitions

The videogame industry has taken the transfer market by storm. What if Microsoft buys Bethesda and Activision Blizzard, what if Sony acquires Bungie and Insomniac Games, and what if Embracer Group takes over Square Enix Western Studios. That's why in recent times rumors and bets about future moves have not ceased to follow one after another. And within the world of speculation, there have been many who have put Ubisoft’s name of on the table. However, it seems that the French company does not want any sales.

Ubisoft's shares have risen as much as 10% following the leak that the Guillemot family is willing to turn to private investors in order to keep the reins of the company. That was the reason why there were so many rumors about the interest in the brand. The Guillemot family, founders of the firm, have 22.3% of the votes in any decision and would be looking for allies to back them financially and allow them to take an even higher percentage. This is in order to remain independent and survive any takeover attempt.

What will it all come down to, will it really be a maneuver to increase its value, and will we know in the next few days the name of the partner who will back the Guillemots to keep Ubisoft running as it does today? We should not rule out that, after last year's sexual and labor harassment accusations, the Guillemot's may not end up gaining support and an interested party with more resources and sympathizers may end up appearing.
