FIFA will bid farewell to EA Sports in 2023; EA Sports FC to arrive
After almost 3 decades linked to the FIFA brand, EA Sports FC will be the new name of the company's football simulator. The target date is July 2023.
FIFA 23 will be the last installment of Electronic Arts' popular simulator. The American company will close its collaboration with the world's top soccer organization as of July 2023, when it will begin to be called by a different name. EA Sports FC is the name chosen for what they call "the new era" of the video game.

“After nearly 30 years of creating genre-defining interactive football experiences, we will soon begin an exciting new era,” begins Cam Weber, executive vice president and general manager of EA Sports. “Next year, EA SPORTS FC will become the future of football from EA SPORTS. Alongside our 300+ license partners across the sport, we’re ready to take global football experiences to new heights, on behalf of all football fans around the world.”
Weber promises that EA Sports FC will keep the same "great experiences, modes, leagues, tournaments, clubs and athletes" as in FIFA, including Ultimate Team, Pro Clubs, Career Mode and Volta Football. He also highlights the exclusive licenses that will remain in its possession, such as the Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A and MLS, among others.
"This new independent platform will bring fresh opportunity – to innovate, create and evolve," Weber reveals. "This is much more than just a change of symbol - as EA SPORTS, we’re committed to ensuring EA SPORTS FC is a symbol of change." Among their plans for the future, they intend to “increasing number of partners to expand to new authentic experiences."
FIFA 23 confirms World Cup 2022 content
The release concludes with a special mention of FIFA 23, which will arrive this year as the final installment in the series. Weber comments that the 2022 release will be "our most expansive game ever" since they used the FIFA name. He confirms that it will feature content from the World Cup to be held in Qatar next November. "We are committed to ensuring the next FIFA is our best ever, with more features, game modes, World Cup content, clubs, leagues, competitions, and players than any FIFA title before," he concludes.
