The road to Evil Dead: The Game, in what order to watch the movies?

Sam Raimi's classic horror franchise was born in the early 1980s and has expanded with new films and a series. A new game is about to arrive.

Update:
The road to Evil Dead: The Game, in what order to watch the movies?

The Evil Dead is a saga of horror films created by director Sam Raimi. The same filmmaker who has just directed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was in charge of the first installment in 1981. Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games are in the final details of the development of Evil Dead: The Game, which will be released on May 13. It's a good opportunity to take a look at all the productions that have been released so far. Is there a specific order to enjoy them?

The truth is that the first three films follow a narrative line that connects with each other. The catalyst of the story is its main character, none other than Ash Williams. Thus, The Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and The Army of Darkness close the classic era. It took more than 20 years before Fede Álvarez stepped behind the cameras to take charge of Evil Dead in 2013, this being both a reboot and a slight continuation of the series.

In The Evil Dead, five young people spend a weekend at a lost cabin in the Tennessee mountains. They discover that the house has a secret basement and descend into hell when they find an old book and a ritual knife. From that moment on, chaos ensues. Taking into account the particularities of Evil Dead, we believe that the best option is to respect the order according to the original release.

Watch Evil Dead movies in order of release

  1. Evil Dead (1981)
  2. Evil Dead 2 (1987)
  3. Army of Darkness (1992)
  4. Evil Dead (2013)
  5. Evil Dead Rise (coming soon, 2022)

Sam Raimi has expressed his delight at "bringing back" the Evil Dead saga to what was "its original home at New Line Cinema," a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Evil Dead Rise is scheduled for release in 2022 and will be based on the original story. However, Raimi will not be the director. He is working with Lee Cronin to translate the idea to the screen.

On the other hand, Ash vs. Evil Dead is a series starring Ash Williams, although the plot of this series can be followed independently with respect to the original movies. In total, three seasons can be enjoyed on Netflix and Starz. There will be no fourth since it has been canceled.

The Evil Dead game is conceptually similar to titles such as Friday the 13th: The Game, Preacher: Hunting Grounds, Dragon Ball: The Breakers or Dead by Daylight, that is, an asynchronous multiplayer title that will allow players to step into the shoes of four survivors, while a fifth player will embody the demon. It will be released for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
