Free-to-play
MultiVersus resurfaces with extensive gameplay and confirms closed alpha next week
Warner Bros' free-to-play game developed by Player First Games, shows new details after months. The game will be available this 2022.
MultiVersus is a multiplayer fighting game that -like Super Smash Bros. but with Warner characters- will allow us to manage some of DC's most iconic superheroes, but also true legends such as Bugs Bunny. The company had anticipated news about this free-to-play game and has shown its mechanics in a showcase full of gameplay. At the controls, developers and professional players: you can see it below these lines.
Before its launch, Warner Bros. Games will test the product through different betas. In fact, they have announced a private alpha for May 19, which will last until May 27. To qualify for an invitation, players will have to register on the official website.
Who are the main characters?
Among the confirmed characters are Batman, Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman, Bugs Bunny, Steven and Velma. There is also no shortage of animation classics such as Tom and Jerry or the superhero who is neither a plane nor a bird, but the Man of Steel, Superman. MultiVersus will expand over time with new fighters. For example, in the videos that leaked before the official announcement, it was confirmed the presence of Gandalf.
What has not been seen so far is any character from the Harry Potter saga. The film and video game rights belong to Warner Bros., so the confrontation between Gandalf and Dumbledore is a real possibility.
Fun for up to 4 players
According to the publishers, the games will focus on online cooperative play. Each of the fighters will have their own range of abilities, which will be translated into different combat mechanics and a "renewed approach to 2 vs. 2 gameplay." Fighters will enter the fray with a set of moves "that combine dynamically with other characters". It will also incorporate 1 vs. 1 fights and a 4-player free-for-all arena battle mode.
MultiVersus will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC. The game will have cross-play between platforms and a "retrospective netcode based on dedicated servers and content-packed seasons".
