Anime Rick!

Rick and Morty will have their own anime by Takashi Sano (Tower of God)

The popular Adult Swim series will feature a 10-episode spin-off in which Takeshi Sano (Tower of God) will expand his vision of Rick and Morty.

Update:
Rick and Morty will have their own anime by Takashi Sano (Tower of God)

We didn't see this one coming and Rick and Morty had gotten us used to a lot of surprises during the years. Adult Swim has commissioned Takashi Sano, the director of Tower of God, to make an anime based on the Emmy-winning series. It will be a 10-episode spinoff with complete independence and creative freedom.

"I am honored to have been given an opportunity to tell a new story about this amazing family. I hope you enjoy their adventures!” said Sano. "I hope you enjoy their adventures! The multiverse-straddling exploits of Rick and the gang pose challenges to the family bond, but they always rise to the occasion.”

The decision comes after the success of Rick and Morty vs Genocider (2020) and Summer meets God (Rick meets Evil) (2021), two short films about Justin Roiland's universe that already bore Takashi Sano's signature. Adult Swim commissioned them to the author as a special episode and between both of them, they have already reached more than 10 million views on the company's digital platforms.

When is season 6 of Rick and Morty coming out?

This anime will take place on the sidelines of the main series, whose sixth season should arrive before the end of 2022. Adult Swim has not yet given a concrete premiere date, but so far, 2022 still remains on their statements and last year already released the fifth in the summer. The series was renewed with TNT in 2018 for a minimum of 7 seasons and 70 episodes, so whether they arrive sooner or later, we still have burps for a while.
