Street Fighter 6 confirms Guile in a new gameplay trailer
The Capcom-developed title was officially announced at the State of Play and will be released next year on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Fans of the fighting genre are looking forward for Street Fighter 6, the latest installment of Capcom's renowned saga. During the Summer Game Fest gala, the first gameplay trailer with Guile as its protagonist was shown, which you can see just below these lines. The title works as a jump to the future, taking place after the events of Street Fighter III, considering that Street Fighter V takes place before that title.
It does not yet have a specific release date, although it is scheduled for 2023. Guile is one of the legendary characters of the saga.
No E3 this year, but returns in 2023
E3 2022's cancellation came as a cold shower, as the event has been in the tightrope since before the pandemic, when Sony Interactive Entertainment decided not to return to the Los Angeles fair. At the time, when COVID-19 forced the world into confinement, the ESA (the association that organizes E3) announced the cancellation of the 2020 edition, given the impossibility of making it face-to-face. The following year they returned with a decaffeinated digital version, while in 2022 they confirmed the worst omens: its cancellation.
The pandemic situation prompted other pieces to move. Geoff Keighley, the master of ceremonies of The Game Awards, announced the Summer Game Fest, an event that has been held for three consecutive years. The gap left by E3 has been filled by this live streaming event and those of the rest of the companies, which present their products directly to users.
What about E3 2023? The ESA is clear: they are not to be left for dead. "As much as we love these digital events, and as much as they reach people and we want that global reach, we also know that there’s a really strong desire for people to convene — to be able to connect in person and see each other and talk about what makes games great."
The association views the emergence of digital events positively, but says there is a place for face-to-face meetings.
