The successful Valheim is coming to Xbox consoles in spring 2023; included in Xbox Game Pass
Iron Gate will collaborate with Piktiv and Fishlabs to port the already successful Valheim to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S at some point in spring 2023.
Iron Gate will bring Valheim to Xbox One and Xbox X Series X|S sometime in spring 2023. It will be available in the Xbox Game Pass catalog on day one. The news comes a few days after learning of its arrival to the service on PC later this year.
Valheim is coming to Xbox
In a press release, the studio emphasized that all versions will feature cross-play, meaning that the Steam, Microsoft Store and Xbox communities will be able to play with each other without restrictions. The port is led by Piktiv and Fishlabs to "ensure that customers on PC and Xbox can enjoy the best possible launch performance". Meanwhile, Iron Gate will be focused on the creation of new content as part of its roadmap.
“We’re beyond delighted to see the world of Valheim and our amazing community open up to even more people, and let our PC Vikings team up with their console shield brothers and sisters in the near future,” explained in a press release Henrik Törnqvist, Iron Gate co-founder. “None of this would be possible without the incredible teams at Piktiv and Fishlabs who are continuing to work tirelessly on the Microsoft Store and Xbox ports, enabling us to focus on the Mistlands update and our exciting journey through Early Access.”
Last year, our colleagues at MeriStation Spain interviewed some of those responsible for the game. In October 2021 it was Törnqvist himself who stated that the port to console "is a safe bet". "As for the exact platforms we're aiming for, we don't know right now. I think we would like to see Valheim on as many consoles as possible, but at the same time we have to take into consideration the technical capabilities of each console individually."
For now, we will have to wait for the release date of this version.
