Forspoken is delayed again and will not arrive until January 2023
Square Enix reports that their upcoming original title is in the final stages of development by Luminous Productions, but they have made a strategic decision.
A new delay for Forspoken has been announced. The game developed by the Final Fantasy XV studio (Luminous Productions) was scheduled for May, but Square Enix announced that it would not be ready until October. Finally, it joins the list of other delayed games such as Redfall, Starfield or the untitled The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel, so its release will take place next year, specifically next January 24, 2023.
In the press release, Square Enix states that they are in the final stage of development, at a point in the creative process where they are trying to polish the product as much as possible. New information will be available later this summer.
Square Enix Official Statement
"As a result of ongoing discussions with key partners, we have made the strategic decision to move the release date of Forspoken to January 24, 2023. All game elements are now complete, and development is in the final polishing phase," they wrote in the statement.
The development studio thanked players for their "patience" and "continued support" throughout this journey. "Your excitement for the game inspires us every day and we cannot wait to share more about Forspokenwith you later this summer."
With Forspoken’s delay, two of Square Enix's big bets will be published in 2023. Final Fantasy XVI also pointed to 2022, but the Japanese company will release it in summer 2023, if there is no other change in the calendar.
Forspoken will be released for PS5 and PC. It is an action-role-playing adventure set in the world of Athia, a vast territory that Frey will have to explore while fighting against all kinds of creatures and enemies. This character is actually a young girl from our world, who suddenly finds herself being transported to a fantasy place.
