The Last of Us Part I concludes development without crunch, according to Naughty Dog developer
Naughty Dog announces that The Last of Us Part I is Gold and a studio employee reveals that "great changes" have been made in improving conditions.
Naughty Dog was in the eye of the storm when working conditions at the studio during the development of The Last of Us Part 2 came to light. Now, location artist Anthony Vaccaro has revealed that this is the first time in his entire career that he hasn't needed to crunch to complete development. In fact, the American studio has confirmed on social media that The Last of Us Part I is Gold, which means that the development process is complete.
Vaccaro pointed out that there is still some way to go for conditions to continue to improve, but applauded the fact that great strides have been made in this direction:
“This is the first time in my 13 year career, across multiple studios that I didn't need to crunch to finish a game. Feels good, really good. Especially hitting the same quality bar as TLOU2. More work to keep doing but proud of the big changes so far to make the studio healthier.
Naughty Dog celebrates the end of development
"Thrilled to announce The Last of Us Part I has gone gold! Congratulations to the Dogs and our partners PlayStation, who contributed their passion and talent to the growing world of." Everything is ready for its release on September 2, which will first take place on PS5. Later, at a date to be determined, it will also be released on PC.
Recently, another developer has made it clear that The Last of Us Part I is not "a cash grab". Not surprisingly, Robert Morrison has shared his experience and has assured that it is the "most meticulous" video game with the greatest attention to detail of all those in which he has participated to date.
The Last of Us will also have a series on HBO Max, which will premiere in 2023.
