The next chapter of the Grand Theft Auto franchise is already in development, and while it doesn't yet have a confirmed release date, it aspires to be bigger.

GTA 6 aims to be "benchmarks for the series, our industry, and for all entertainment"

Despite the fact that the first leaks are already sketching the first details of what Grand Theft Auto's sixth installment will be, little is officially known about Rockstar's upcoming game. Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, mentioned the product during the presentation of its financial results. CEO Strauss Zelnick has assured that GTA 6 intends to become a reference for the entire video game and entertainment industry.

"With development of the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series well underway, the Rockstar Games team is determined to once again set creative benchmarks for the series, our industry, and for all entertainment," said Zelnick. "Just as the label has done with every one of their frontline releases," Zelnick added.

Respect for minority groups

Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier has had the chance to talk to some Rockstar Games employees and ex-employees, who of course have requested anonymity. According to this information, one of the main characters will be a Latina woman. It is certain that the company is making efforts to avoid the kind of humor it used to make until now, so its goal is to respect minorities.

The project has undergone many changes throughout production and Rockstar Games has opted to build a huge fictional city based in Miami. However, in an attempt to improve its internal culture and avoid crunch, the management has made the decision that the game will expand with new cities once it is released.

GTA 6 still has no confirmed release date or platforms. In the meantime, GTA V continues to triumph and increase its sales: the fifth installment has already distributed 170 million copies since its arrival on the market, almost a decade ago.
