Assassin's Creed unveils its first mobile game and first experiences for Project Infinity
The Assassin's Creed franchise continues to grow and expand into new terrain, showcasing its first experiences for Infinity and a mobile title.
Assassin's Creed will be coming to new territories in the coming years, with the upcoming arrival of three codenamed titles that will take us to different points in the story, according to what was presented today at Ubisoft Forward.
Assassin's Creed back to China
Ubisoft will launch its first open-world mobile title in the Assassin's Creed franchise. Under the working name Assassin's Creed: Codename Jade, we will be taken back to ancient China, now in the year 215 BC, bringing the mechanics of the main title to iOS and Android devices.
The title will feature "the iconic Assassin's Creed gameplay, but optimized for an experience with touch controls," according to Marc-Alexis Côté, Executive Producer of Assassin's Creed at Ubisoft Québec. In addition, for the first time in the franchise, we will be able to create our own character. Although the trailer points out that it will be "coming soon", we still have to wait for more details about this upcoming release.
Assassin’s Creed Project Infinity shows its first adventures
During Ubisoft Forward, the first adventures that will be part of Assassin's Creed Infinity, Ubisoft's planned upcoming service to deliver franchise experiences and become the "entry point for fans to the Assassin's Creed franchise" were also announced.
The first of the titles is Assassin's Creed Codename Red, which will finally fulfill one of the biggest fan requests, a game set in Feudal Japan. The brief teaser shows a ninja with the Assassins' iconic hidden blade. The title will be developed by Ubisoft Quebec, the same studio behind Assassin's Creed Odyssey and will have Jonathan Dumont at the helm.
Besides, Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe was shown, which will be set in Europe during the witch hunts in the Holy Roman Empire. The teaser shows us a dark forest where the iconic logo of the assassins is armed with wooden branches, in front of a campfire. Ubisoft Montreal will be the studio in charge of its development.
These three titles are "on the horizon" of what will come later with Assassin's Creed, being still in the early stages of development. Most likely, their names will change, and until then, we will have a possible release date. For now, we know that the recently announced Assassin's Creed Mirage will arrive in 2023.
