First images of Need for Speed: Unbound are leaked with the purest anime style
A Japanese store has leaked the first images of Need for Speed: Unbound just hours before its official reveal. We will know more on October 6.
Need for Speed: Unbound will be the next step in the extensive trajectory of the Electronic Arts franchise. Criterion Games is once again taking the reins with a proposal which we will know more about this coming Thursday, October 6 at 11:00 AM ET... although it has already been revealed what it looks like. A retail chain in Japan has released the game's profile ahead of time.
Need for Speed makes the jump to anime
As you can see in the images below this paragraph, the driving franchise transitions to a radically different style from what we used to know. We see animated characters in the purest anime style along with realistic cars. The most differentiating element is the visual effects on the bodywork. We see cartoon-style smoke, and stars on the rims... The British studio embraces an Asian style.
The store shows that the game will only be released on December 2 on current generation consoles. Will PS4 and Xbox One be left behind? We will know when it is officially announced in a matter of hours. What is clear is that the publisher has placed much of its hopes in a title that somehow breaks with the serious trend seen in installments such as Heat and Payback.
We must go back to 2019 to know the last proposal that fell on the shoulders of Ghost Games. Need for Speed: Heat that at the time achieved with our colleagues in Spain a rating of 6.8, something that at the time commented "it is boring because of the little variety of content that brings as standard. The difference in the experience between day and night was not enough mechanics to alleviate their problems, as a "too empty map, with no pedestrians or hardly any traffic, little playable variety and quite forgettable plot".
