Konami hints at an internally developed Silent Hill: they’re searching for “high-end” creators
The Japanese company has already announced several titles for the saga, but all of them developed by external studios.
Konami, the studio that hasn’t launched a single title in their massively popular horror saga since 2012, is not only preparing several new titles through external studios, but they’ve also revealed that they’re planning on making more Silent Hill internally. Or at least, that’s what the company’s official Twitter account seems to be implying, where they shared a link to a new talent recruiting website.
“We have opened a special page for recruiting high-end game creators,” says the tweet, translated from Japanese to English. “This includes the Silent Hill series!”. In said website there’s a couple of different job listings, such as producer, game director and more. On the other hand, several of the offerings ask for Unreal Engine experience, which is the engine Bloober Team is using for the remake of Silent Hill 2.
There is no mention of any other franchises belonging to the company. And that includes Metal Gear Solid, created by Hideo Kojima. The series last main entry was Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and afterwards Kojima was kicked out of Konami. After his departure, the studio created Metal Gear Survive, a multiplayer survival game spinoff.
Silent Hill 2 Remake’s development is almost done
There’s still no confirmed release date, but Bloober Team has revealed that the development cycle is already in its final stage. The devs are working on polishing the game experience, and is planned for launch on PS5 and PC. As was announced during the stream, Silent Hill 2 Remake will be exclusive to Sony’s newest console generation for a limited time.
Asides from the remake Konami is publishing other titles for the franchise: Silent Hill f takes place in Japan during the 60s and will be the next main entry. No Code is the studio behind Silent Hill: Downfall, while Silent Hill: Ascension seems to be some sort of social streaming game with decisions made by viewers and players.
