Sony's new studio collaborating with Naughty Dog, working "in a beloved franchise”
PSS Visual Arts is co-developing the game along with the studio behind Uncharted and The Last of Us, although no further details are known at this time.
Naughty Dog and PSS Visual Arts are immersed in the development of a project that belongs to a "beloved" saga. From that point on, not much more can be said, as the name of the franchise has not been officially revealed. In any case, it is confirmed that the project is not original and that it is part of a well-known series, as has been made clear in the message accompanying a new job offer.
"We are a new PlayStation studio based in San Diego, CA. Our team seeks to impact SIE positively by inspiring the thoughts and emotions of players worldwide through an amazing gaming experience. Currently we are co-developing an exciting new project with Naughty Dog in a beloved franchise."
The Last of Us multiplayer, a free-to-play game?
Naughty Dog announced at the Summer Game Fest gala that the indie multiplayer set in the universe of The Last of Us will receive new information in 2023. However, a recent job offer has hinted that the studio is looking for people with experience in free-to-play titles, which has sparked rumors about the possibility of this project working under this business model. It should not be forgotten that PlayStation wants to strengthen its games-as-a-service offering.
Which sagas fall into the "beloved" category? If we're talking about Naughty Dog brands, there are two names to keep in mind. The first is Jak and Daxter, which has been dormant for many years now. The second is of course Uncharted, whose most recent project is the Legacy of Thieves Collection pack for PS5 and PC, which includes both the fourth installment and The Lost Legacy. We'll see what the future holds.
