EA announces a major IP launch for early 2023, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the main suspect
The Jedi: Fallen Order sequel will continue Cal Kestis' story, one of the survivors of Order 66.
Neither Respawn Entertainment nor Electronic Arts have officially confirmed a release date for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, but Fallen Order’s continuation should come out at some point during 2023. Now, during a financial meeting, EA has revealed that they have a “major IP” launch slated for the 31st of March of the coming year (the end of the current fiscal year), so many people suspect that the action adventure title by the creators of Apex Legends and Titanfall 2 is a great match for this.
The publisher shared that the identity of this Intellectual Property would be revealed further on, when the launch date is much closer. For now, we’ll have to wait until the developers choose to begin with their marketing campaign for the product.
“The nature of marketing in our industry has meaningfully changed in the past five or six years," said Andrew Wilson, EA Boss, while explaining why they choose to not reveal this “major IP” yet. “You might remember that when we launched Apex Legends, we didn't tell anybody about it until about 48 hours before the community got to play it.” Then again, a free-to-play game like Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale has different different kinds of needs than a single player title like Jedi: Survivor.
The return of Cal Kestis, Jedi Knight
The yet to be released title continues Cal Kestis’ story. Having survived the events of the past game, the young padawan that hid from the Empire and eventually got roped into a plot to rebuild the Jedi Order has been fighting with a small group of rebels for a while. We still don’t know what he’ll have to go through in the next installment, but the trailer made it look like he’s on his own again, so we can’t imagine it being something very cheery.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will come exclusively to the current generation, meaning PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
