Overdose: 2 minutes of gameplay from Hideo Kojima’s new game have leaked
The next game from Hideo Kojima that had previously leaked now reveals actress Margaret Qualley is back from her role as Mama in Death Stranding.
No one is safe from leaks, not even Kojima Productions. During the past few weeks, the legendary creative has begun to drop some hints about his new project. However, nothing has been officially confirmed. As insider Tom Henderson has shared, some leaked gameplay from what we now know is called Overdose has been circulating in private Discord servers. In total there’s around 2 minutes of footage.
The clip (bizarrely recorded on a phone by a topless man watching the footage on a screen) presents a character with Margaret Qualley’s likeness, the same actress that played Mama and her twin in Death Stranding. What is shown is gameplay in third person where the character is walking through dilapidated corridors with only a lantern in hand. The video certainly gives off horror game vibes, but it might be too early to jump to conclusions.
At the end of the gameplay, the woman screams and a “Game Over” appears on screen. The now classic message “A Hideo Kojima Game” appears above, and the text morphs into the words “Overdose” to become what seems to be the game’s title card.
What do we know about Death Stranding creators’ next game?
Henderson assured in his article that this footage is the same he saw and talked about this past June, although that footage was captured directly from the game. Up until now, the only official information is what Kojima Productions has shared publicly: both Elle Fanning and Shioli Kutsuna will be part of the title.
Hideo Kojima has also stated that the rumors about his involvement with Abandoned, a game developed by an indie dev that has been fraught with controversy, are completely false. He also said that the title is neither Silent Hill, nor related to Kojima Productions or Kojima himself.
However, Xbox and Kojima Productions did announce a collaboration to create a game that will utilize Cloud technology. They’ve only mentioned that it will be something innovative, but no details have been shared yet.
