Nintendo updates their sales figures: how much have they sold and what are the bestsellers

Nintendo has publicized their financial results and confirmed that up until September 30, there’s been 114.3 million Nintendo Switch consoles sold in total. However, the company has reduced expectations for the following fiscal year, explaining that they went from 21 million to 19 million predicted units sold by March 31, 2023.

“As a result of these factors, total software sales grew by 1.6% year-on-year to 95.41 million units. On the other hand, hardware units sold decreased by 19.2% year-on year to 6.68 million units, due to factors such as a shortage of semiconductor and other component supplies.”

This reduction of expectations brings with it a 9.8% decline from the past discal year, as well as a 37% in comparison to 2020’s fiscal year. As for software, the creators of Mario have stated their satisfaction: “each title released this period has sold well, with Splatoon 3 getting off to a good start with sales of 7.90 million units, as well as Nintendo Switch Sports at 6.15 million units, Mario Strikers: Battle League at 2.17 million units, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 at 1.72 million units sold.”

Nintendo Switch’s most sold games

Very little has changed about this list during the past few months. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which has been getting larger and larger thanks to its ongoing expansion pass, continues to lead the pack by being in first place, followed by Animal Crossing: New Horizon. Other titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate follow behind, but with quite a difference in sales. And of course, Pokémon is in the top ten with several entries:

  1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe | 48.41 millions
  2. Animal Crossing: New Horizons | 40.17 millions
  3. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate | 29.53 millions
  4. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild | 27.79 millions
  5. Pokemon Sword/Shield | 25.37 millions
  6. Super Mario Odyssey | 24.40 millions
  7. Super Mario Party | 18.35 millions
  8. Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shinning Pearl | 14.92 millions
  9. Ring Fit Adventure | 14.87 millions
  10. Pokemon Let’s Go | 14.81 millions

As of this moment Nintendo doesn’t have plans to raise the price of a Nintendo Switch, although they admitted they’ve been studying the situation and can’t officially say they won’t do it in the future.
