Kevin Conroy, the voice of Batman, dies at age 66

Kevin Conroy, the legendary voice of Batman in Batman The Animated Series, the Arkham trilogy, and much more, has died at the age of 66.

Actor Kevin Conroy, known for being the legendary voice of Batman in multiple projects such as Batman The Animated Series, the Batman Arkham video game trilogy, among other DC Comics projects, passed away at the age of 66 yesterday, November 10, according to The Peter Mayhew Foundation.

Through a tweet, the foundation announced the actor's death, "We had the privilege of attending conventions alongside Kevin over the years and are heartbroken by this news.”

News of Conroy's death came via the Facebook account of actress Diane Pershing, who voiced Poison Ivy in Batman the Animated Series. According to Pershing, Conroy “has been ill for a while, but he really put in a lot of time at the cons, to the joy of all of his fans. He will be sorely missed not just by the cast of the series but by his legion of fans all over the world.”

For its part, Warner Bros. Discovery issued a press release related to the actor's death, stating that “He would establish never-to-be-broken records as the quintessential voice of Batman, bringing the super hero to animated life… 15 animated series, spanning nearly 400 episodes and more than 100 hours of television.”

In the same statement, people close to the actor spoke about the actor. “For several generations, he has been the definitive Batman. It was one of those perfect scenarios where they got the exact right guy for the exact right part”, mentioned actor Mark Hamill. “He was the ideal partner - it was such a complementary, creative experience. He will always be my Batman.”

Kevin Conroy voiced Batman for more than 15 years beginning with 1992's Batman The Animated Series and its subsequent sequels, being the definitive voice of Batman un animated media, even playing the old Bruce Wayne in Batman Beyond. His work was not only limited to animation, being part of the Batman: Arkham trilogy, giving voice again to the Caped Crusader, and working again with Mark Hamill, who also returned to give voice to the Joker. In addition to this trilogy, he appeared in the Injustice fighting series. One of his most relevant recent roles was giving life to Batman in live-action in the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover of the Arrowverse.
