Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: how does co-op work, possibilities…

You can explore the Paldea region with up to three friends at the same time (without having to worry about what version each of you is playing. We’ll tell you how you can join them and what you need to keep in mind to make use of all of the game’s features.

How does co-op work in Pokémon Scarlet and violet?

You need to keep in mind that to make use of multiplayer features you need to be connected to the internet and have an active subscription to Nintendo Switch Online. Once you do, make your way to the main menu (X Button) and select PokéPortal. Inside you’ll find all of the multiplayer options of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Go to the first one in the list, Union Circle. Do you want to join a group? Click on the second option and enter a code given by your group’s host. If instead you wish to be the host, we’ll tell you what steps to follow.

Click on “Create Group”. Inside, you’ll find a group code you need to give to your friends, or the players you wish to be joined by in your game. It doesn’t matter what erosion they have, both Scarlet and Purple can play together. When they start to join your game, their names will appear in the right column, once everyone is in you can start the session.

You need to remember that once you start the session, no other players will be able to join. If anyone gets disconnected you’ll have to restart the whole process to be able to let them join.

A whole lot of possibilities, together

Co-op is a great way of completing your Pokédex, allowing you to trade exclusive Pokémon with one another from the version you’re not playing in. When players from an opposite version join your game, the creatures’ spawning rate changes and everyone gets access to all Pokémon regardless of if they’re playing Scarlet or Violet.

This includes Ground Zero. Once you join players of both versions, you can see Paradox Pokémon of the past (Scarlet) and the future (Violet) coexisting. This way you don’t have to depend on trading to complete your Pokédex.
