Armored Core 6, From Software's break from the souls-like genre, is coming 2023
After Elden Ring, Hidetaka Miyazaki and From Software are coming back to another of their classic franchises that helped build the studio, 12 years after its last entry.
Twelve years. From Software hadn’t touched the Armored Core franchise for twelve years. Taking into account that this is the saga for which the studio lived for and its main focus between 1997 and 2011, fans of the mech simulator have been craving for more. Of course, no one can complain about the direction they’ve gone for in the following years, from which we got Dark Souls, Sekiro, Bloodborne, Elden Ring, and the birth of a new genre that took the industry by storm and changed the way developers look at games at a fundamental level.
But we always had that itch to see them go back to their origins, even if just to see how they would look at their giant robots now. Well, that moment is finally here: During The Game Awards 2022, the studio dropped an impressive trailer confirming that Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is coming, and it’ll be here in 2023.
2023 is going to be an incredible year for video games
And yet, even when some of us couldn’t be more excited about suiting up and climbing into our Raven mech for some hardcore sci-fi action filled with military intrigue (and maybe even new soulslike elements), Armored core isn’t the only heavy hitter that’ll come during 2023. It seems like the post-pandemic troubles that have plagued the industry for years are finally coming to an end, given that almost every studio out there is speeding up once again. The new-gen is taking off, games are not getting delayed anymore, and we’re the ones who win.
You better start planning which games will be your priority, because there’s a lot to choose from. Here’s a list of just a few of the biggest names releasing this 2023:
