The Polish studio is conscious of the fact some players are having performance issues after updating the game.

Update:
The Witcher 3 is having troubles on PC after the “new gen” version launch, but CDPR is already on it

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt now has an improved version on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS5, and PC. The title has received new generation functionality, and while as of now there are no plans for new content, CD Projekt RED is working on patches to fix any possible issue that could show up. In the case of the PC version, several players have found errors, so the developer is already working on possible solutions.

“We are aware of the issues PC players have been reporting since last night's release of the update,” said the official account of the game on Twitter. “We are actively investigating all of the reports and will be providing an update on particular issues as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!”

A temporary fix for some of the problems

Marcin Momot, communications director at CD Projekt RED, added to the conversation on his own account. “While the team is working on fixing the issues PC players have been reporting, please make sure to have the latest NVIDIA drivers installed as it may help with some of the problems you're experiencing.”

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year Edition can be bought right now for under 5 dollars in the GOG winter sale. This version of the game includes both game expansions (Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine), which guarantees hundreds of hours of gameplay in the fantasy RPG.

CD Projekt RED is also working on the future of the franchise. Besides a remake of the original title, project Polaris (codename) will begin an entirely new trilogy of games, of which there still aren’t any details. What we do know is that these projects will use Unreal Engine 3 as their main engine instead of their proprietary tools, RedEngine.
