Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is launching on PS5 at the end of 2023
PlayStation has confirmed a release window for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the long awaited sequel for these specific Peter Parker and Miles Morales will arrive to PS5 at the end of 2023.
PlayStation has cleared out all doubts: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will launch at the end of 2023. Despite rumors of the title being hit with a possible delay, the company released a small review of what’s to come to the console during the coming year, with Insomniac’s game leading the pack. The PS5 is about to have an extremely strong year.
Bryan Intihar, creative director on the project and the one behind the first entry in the series, shared his feelings about 2022 and what’s to come: “What a year it’s been for PlayStation Studios; here at Insomniac Games we’ve been in absolute awe of the work of our peers. Congrats to everyone on a successful 2022… and here’s to next year being just as exciting as we continue to get Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ready for release next fall.”
Months of silence
A lot of questions arose during these past few months. Back in October, it was Insomniac who answered a fan’s tweet about a possible delay to the game. “Don't. We're making good progress and it's still slated for 2023. Showing games takes time, effort, resources, and coordination”, said the official Insomniac Games account on Twitter.
The game was revealed on September 9, 2021, during a particularly big PlayStation Showcase stream. One of the main courses of said show was the reveal of the sequel, which confirmed that Peter Parker and Miles Morales would join forces to face Venom, who will apparently be the game’s main antagonist. The title shared the spotlight alongside Marvel’s Wolverine, Gran Turismo 7, God of War: Ragnarok, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic’s remake.
While fans believed the trailer to be a CGI cutscene, the studio confirmed soon after that all of the footage had been captured and rendered in real time on PS5 hardware.
