Oppenheimer: Christopher Nolan’s biopic about the creator of the atomic bomb receives its first trailer
The director of Interstellar, the Dark Knight trilogy, Tenet, and more has revealed a first look of his newest movie, the long awaited historic drama about the atomic bomb starring Cillian Murphy.
We finally have a full trailer for Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan’s newest movie. The director of Interstellar, The Dark Knight, Inception, Dunkirk, Tenet and much more now brings us the origin story of the Manhattan Project and the birth of the atomic bomb, a historical event that would for ever change the destiny of World War II and humanity itself. Shared through Universal’s various accounts, the trailer to Oppenheimer comes with narration from Cillian Murphy speaking as the titular character. The movie will release in theaters on July 21, 2023.
Risking the world in order to save it
The film's official synopsis reads: “Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer is an IMAX-shot epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it. The film stars Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer and Emily Blunt as his wife, biologist and botanist Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer. Oscar winner Matt Damon portrays General Leslie Groves Jr., director of the Manhattan Project, and Robert Downey, Jr. plays Lewis Strauss, a founding commissioner of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission.”
Oppenheimer will show audiences the life and moral dilemma of the physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, creator of the atomic bomb and one of the main figures of Project Manhattan between 1942 and 1946. Oppenheimer was director of the Los Alamos laboratory where the first bombs were assembled, and where their tests were conducted. Recently, Nolan mentioned that he and his team made efforts to recreate a nuclear explosion without the use of CGI for the film.
