According to The Hollywood Reporter, the former Superman actor had already filmed his scene, but management has decided not to include him in the movie.

Update:
DC cuts Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot's cameos in The Flash

DC's cinematic universe is in the midst of a period of profound change. James Gunn and Peter Safran, who are responsible for charting the long-term plan for the company's superheroes, have begun to make decisions. After it was confirmed that Henry Cavill will not reprise his role as Superman despite the announcement of his return in October, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the actor will not appear in The Flash either. Neither will Gal Gadot, the protagonist of Wonder Woman. Not surprisingly, the third installment has been canceled.

Henry Cavill had already filmed his cameo for The Flash, one of the films of the old canon that was still pending release. However, according to sources consulted by the outlet, his footage will not ultimately appear in the film, making Cavill's Superman farewell even more definitive.

Man of Steel 2 and Wonder Woman 3 canceled

Before Gunn and Safran signed on with DC to build the new universe, the team was exploring the possibility of filming a sequel with Henry Cavill. That plan no longer fits within the strategy outlined by the two new leaders. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio wanted Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight to write the film's script.

The agreement between Henry Cavill and the studio was verbal, meaning that he had not yet signed on for any concrete project.

In the case of Wonder Woman 3, Patty Jenkins made it public that she was no longer part of the project. "When there started being backlash about WW3 not happening, the attractive clickbait false story that it was me that killed it or walked away started to spread. This is simply not true. I never walked away," he explained in a statement.

The Flash is expected to be released on June 16, 2023.
