Pokémon GO celebrates the arrival of 2023 with a huge event

The New Year 2023 event in Pokémon GO celebrates the arrival of Pikachu with a festive top hat, accompanied by other classics dressed up for the occasion.

Pokémon GO joins the end-of-year celebration with the first themed event of 2023. From Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 8:00 pm (local time) through Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 8:00 pm (local time), you'll have the opportunity to get your hands on costumed Pokémon, including the debut of Pikachu wearing a New Year's hat.

In addition, the event will feature the introduction of Noctowl wearing a New Year's outfit, which you can get by evolving a Hoothoot with a New Year's Eve outfit. You will also find a special New Year's Eve-themed collection challenge. During the celebration, you should not miss the opportunity to hatch eggs. All those you put in an incubator will require half the distance to hatch. On the other hand, the first three you place inside the hatching widget will require only a quarter distance.

As we come to the close of another eventful year of exploration, let’s start the next one off right—with a New Year’s celebration event in Pokémon GO!

The store will add special outfits, while at PokéStops you will receive stickers themed to this particular event. As always, Pokémon accompanied by an asterisk will have a chance to appear in shiny version. Kick-off 2023 by expanding your collection.
