God of War Ragnarok’s Kratos actor makes history with his speech in The Game Awards 2022

We can still remember the amazingly long speech made by Christopher Judge (Kratos in God of War Ragnarok) when accepting his award during The Game Awards for Best Performance. Streamed around the world, more than one viewer in the regions where the show happened early in the morning were lulled to sleep during his heartfelt thread of gratitude. With no hurry, numerous pauses, and smooth baritone voice, Judge’s speech became the longest speech ever in any Awards Show.

The actor was only one second away from reaching the 8 minute mark while thanking his entire family and the members of the development team at Santa Monica Studio, with whom he worked during the creation of God of War Ragnarok. In the end, his 7 minutes and 59 seconds managed to set him firmly in the top of the list for this world record.

So who was the keeper of this title before? It was actress Geer Garson, who during the 1942 ceremony of the Oscars managed to stay on stage for almost 5 minutes and 30 seconds with a long list of thanks. Far from Judge’s 8 minutes, the official Game Awards account posted a tweet joking about the event while also mentioning the Guinness Book of World Records.

God of War Ragnarok’s almost perfect winning night

The Best Performance award was only one of 6 titles Santa Monica Studio took home this past December 8, when The Game Awards 2022 took place in Los Angeles, California. Besides the above mentioned one they were also awarded Best Narrative, Best Soundtrack, Best Audio Design, Award for Innovation and Accessibility, and Best Action Adventure. However, the big prize would go to Elden Ring, who not only took the Game of the Year award, but also Best Direction.
