The original Pink Power Ranger reveals why she’s not in the reunion: “I never said no”
Amy Jo Johnson, who played Kimberly in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, didn’t agree to what Netflix offered for her appearance in the reunion special.
Netflix has announced Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, a special that celebrates the 30th anniversary of the franchise with some of the original actors of the show coming back to play their characters. One of the biggest absences will be Amy Jo Johnson (Kimberly), the first Pink Power Ranger, just as she herself explained in a Tweet.
“For the record I never said no…I just didn’t say yes to what was offered. But other fun stuff is in-store! Looking forward to watching my friends kick ass!” she wrote. Many fans were hoping to see a Kimberly and Tommy reunion, since the special was shot back in 2022, before Jason David Frank fell victim to suicide.
There has also been no mention of Austin St. John’s possible return as the first Red Ranger . What’s true is that he’s had a few encounters with the law, being arrested last year for fraud involving government economic support regarding COVID-19.
These are the confirmed returning Rangers
David Yost will once again be the Blue Ranger (Billy) in Once & Always, just as he confirmed in his social media accounts. We’ll also see Walter E. Jones (Zack, Black Ranger), Catherine Sutherland (Kat, Pink Ranger), Steve Cardenas (Rocky, Red Ranger), Karan Ashley (Aisha, Yellow Ranger), and Johnny Yong Bosch (Adam, Black Ranger), as well as Barbara Goodson, who voiced Rita Repulsa.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always will be available exclusively on Netflix on April 19. It’s a special episode in which the Power Rangers will have to use their powers once again to face off against a threat from the past. “In the midst of a global crisis, they are called on once again to be the heroes the world needs. Inspired by the legendary mantra from the franchise 'Once a Ranger, Always a Ranger,' Once & Always reminds everyone when you become a Ranger, you are always a part of the Ranger family and always welcome.”
