Turn 10
Forza Motorsport will be “a generational leap in immersion”
Turn 10 has pointed out that all of the technical improvements in Forza Motorsport represent a huge leap in relation to the past entries of the franchise.
Forza Motorsport has shown its full hand. Its appearance during the Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct has finally let the community know in great detail what Turn 10’s next step is going to look like. With a release at some point of 2023, it’ll mark a “generational leap” in immersion according to the developers.
Forza Motorsport shows off their technical muscle
From the amazing audio to the upgrades at a technical level it incorporates, the eighth main entry of the franchise will make full use of the new generation hardware of Xbox Series X to fulfill its ambitions. “Cars drive better in Forza Motorsport thanks to the advancements we’ve made in our physics simulation, which are greater than Forza Motorsport 5, 6, and 7 combined.”
The studio mentioned that they’ve redesigned their materials and shaders “from the ground up for a cutting-edge ray tracing experience.” For example, they mention that their tracks will have up to 10 times more detail on Xbox Series X|S than its predecessors. “From highly detailed vegetation and overgrowth to crowds consisting of tens of thousands of fully animated 3D spectators. Our environments use physically based lighting and volumetric fog effects, as well as a fully procedural cloud system that evolves organically.”
All of this is to be linked to their dynamic weather and day cycle systems, which is coming to the game in full to every track available at launch. Turn 10’s goal with this features is to make every race feel different. For this, they’re also making use of tons of other simulations like dynamic track temperatures, wet driving surfaces, and rubbering in.
Forza Motorsport was the only game in the Xbox and Bethesda Developer_Direct to not get a confirmed release date. While before the studio had aimed to release this spring, Xbox has now changed that release window to “2023”, giving it much more space to work with. It’ll come to Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC.
