Shazam! Fury of the Gods unleashes its power in a second trailer

Warner Bros. Pictures shows off a new preview of what’s to come in its upcoming superhero movie release, this time betting on all action… and dragons!

Update:
Shazam! Fury of the Gods unleashes its power in a second trailer

Shazam! Fury of the Gods, DC and Warner Bros.’ upcoming movie, will be released in theaters this March. In this new action-filled trailer you’ll be able to see a lot of what the movie has to offer - perhaps a bit too much - focusing around many of the action scenes that the Zachary Levi starred film has prepared for fans.

Shazam vs actual DC gods

Unlike the original movie from 2019, which had a much more family friendly and comical feel to it that many times edged on the absurd, this sequel seems to be banking more towards spectacle and action: we can already see pieces of the heroes’ direct confrontation with Calypso and a huge dragon of otherworldly power.Basically the whole trailer is non-stop action.

“Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with having adult Super Hero alter-egos. But when the Daughters of Atlas, a vengeful trio of ancient gods, arrive on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Billy—aka Shazam—and his family are thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of their world,” says the official synopsis.

David F. Sandberg comes back from the first movie to direct once again, with Zachary Levi as the titular Shazam/ Bily Batson alongside Helen Mirren, Grace Caroline Currey, Lucy Liu, Adam Brody, Meagan Good, Rachel Zegler, Jack Dylan Grazer, Diedrich Bader, Djimon Hounsou, Marta Milans, P.J. Byrne, Asher Angel, Ross Butler, Rizwan Manji, Cooper Andrews, D.J. Cotrona, and Abby Glover.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods remains as one of the survivors of the DC Cinematic Universe’s massive shakeup after Black Adam’s failure at the box office, now that James Gunn and Peter Safran have been appointed as the main creative directors of the franchise. We’ll find out when the movie releases on March 17, 2023.
