Square Enix officially announces Final Fantasy VII Day, a celebration of the classic RPG

From that fateful 1997, the memories of many players have remained, some of whom were neophytes to the JRPG genre. Final Fantasy VII has become pure nostalgia, and today, 26 years after its release, Square Enix has announced Final Fantasy VII Day. It is an official event that will serve to channel the love that many have for this particular entry to the franchise.

“We’re delighted to announce ‘Final Fantasy VII Day’ has been officially registered in Japan.to commemorate the anniversary of the original game's release”. Said Yoshinori Kitase, director of the classic and producer of the remake, sharing a few words with all the fans.

The producer's message

“The 31st of January 1997, the day that FINAL FANTASY VII came out, was not just a significant day for the FINAL FANTASY series, but also marked when so many big things started moving for those of us who worked on the game.”

According to Kitase, he remembers that in those years technology evolved very fast, so he dreamed big for the following years. A future that has already arrived, where it is now the present and that is now past. However, there is always another future.

“With the establishment of this official anniversary day, I will now always remember these things, and hold them dearly in my heart."

After many years of waiting, Square Enix released Final Fantasy VII Remake in 2020, a reimagining of the classic for PS4, PS5 and PC, which is part of a new trilogy. The second chapter is titled Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth and has been confirmed for ps5, although for now there’s still no confirmed release date. It is expected that throughout this year they will provide more details in this regard, especially with 35th anniversary of the series being this year.
