Sony's new virtual reality headset is just weeks away from hitting the market. However, PlayStation VR2 has already been in the news because Bloomberg stated in an article that PlayStation had drastically reduced their sales expectations. According to this information, they had even warned their partners that production could also be restrained. The Japanese company has not been slow to respond and has denied this suggestion to GamesIndustry.biz.
"We have not cut PlayStation VR 2 Production numbers production," Sony stressed. The company believes that PlayStation fans are showing "enthusiasm" for the launch, which "includes more than 30 titles such as Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Call of the Mountain and Resident Evil Village."
The sources consulted by Bloomberg maintained that Sony intended to distribute 2 million units during the Q1 2023, but that those expectations had been lowered by 1 million, as the number of preorders had reportedly been disappointing. Be that as it may, PlayStation expects to distribute 1.5 million units between April 2022 and March 2023, the date on which the next fiscal year ends.
