Redfall will require a persistent internet connection even in single player

Arkane is pushing Redfall’s internet prerequisite beyond the co-op features of the multiplayer modes on its new vampire hunting title.

Redfall will require a persistent internet connection even in single player

Redfall will not allow you to play without an internet connection. According to the game’s official FAQ, Arkane Studios newest title will require players to remain connected to the internet even when they’re playing on their own. No details have been shared about the reasons behind this decision.

In the same page you can also find a statement that reveals that an Xbox Live Gold subscription will only be necessary if you want to join other players in the co-op mode. You must also have an active Bethesda.net account.

Redfall will continue to test its players’ ingenuity

One of the identifying factors of Arkane Studios games is the possibility of tackling the same scenario with multiple methods. Every level is designed to be boarded with different gameplay styles, in the style of immersive sims. Harvey smith, creative director of the project, explained how that tradition is still present in this game

According to the director, Redfall is a game where you can choose to use stealth to surprise your enemies, find an advantageous higher ground to survey a situation, or completely avoid certain combats. It’s not like they want players to only use stealth, but that they’re aiming for a shooter that is capable of doing so. He spoke of an AI that has simulated sight and hearing, and how that always allows for great dynamic and interesting gameplay moments: stalking your enemies, avoiding being detected, using the correct weapon type, choosing when to use your powers and when to end combat with a well placed stake through a vampire that has been petrified by UV light, it’s all part of the tactical replayability of Redfall.

Redfall is set to release on May 2, 2023, on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Xbox Gaming Cloud.
