Hogwarts Legacy scores and reviews. The press weighs in: is it a dream come true or a new disappointment?
The embargo has lifted and international critics are weighing in on the new Harry Potter game, one of the most anticipated releases of 2023.
The wait was as long as a potions class. Three years. We've waited three years for Hogwarts Legacy. We've also come out of a decade-long drought (the games based on the movies ended in 2011), and we've barely had LEGO and augmented reality projects as occasional oases to yearn for a return to the wizarding world. But let us say one thing: the wait has been worth it. The analysis and reviews from the international press are almost all positive. More than positive, in fact. The game is almost outstanding; for many media, it is the best Harry Potter game ever made.
Our colleagues in Spain have already published their review and they are categorical: "Hogwarts Legacy is the best game set in the Harry Potter universe". They assure that it will be a surprise for those who doubted its combat system and the fact that it is an original story set years before Dumbledore moved into the castle. Both points, combat, and story are among the strengths of the title. And although its open world does not have too many novelties and mechanics such as stealth could be more developed, it is a worthy RPG "full of options and adventures" that can take us more than 100 hours if we aspire to complete it 100%.
Hogwarts Legacy: All Scores and Reviews
With nearly 30 reviews posted on Metacritic so far, the game already has an average score of 86, making Hogwarts Legacy the third highest-rated game of the year by the press, practically tied with the two above it, Dead Space Remake (88) and Hi-Fi: Rush (88). Depending on what the rest of the press has to say, the score could still swing and make Hogwarts Legacy the big star of 2023 so far. Whether it does or not, it's clear that the sentiment is good and Harry Potter fans are in for a treat.
