Square Enix
Final Fantasy 16 won't have difficulty options at all
Producer Naoki Yoshida explains how the two modes they implemented to approach the Final Fantasy XVI adventure work.
Final Fantasy XVI will not feature a classic difficulty setting, but the Square Enix title will opt for other ways to tailor the experience to different types of users. During the game's preview event, producer Naoki Yoshida explained how they approached this issue. Players will be able to choose between two types of game modes that go beyond the easy, normal, and hard modes commonly found in video games.
"For players who are ready for the action, we recommend what we call our ‘Action Focus’ mode. And for those who want to focus on the story, we have what’s called ‘Story Focus’ mode." Yoshida went on to define exactly what the two modes are: " But what is the difference here? Are these just difficulty settings, like easy or hard? The answer to that is no. And the true answer lies in this set of accessories that we have that we call the Timely accessories," he explained.
According to Yoshida, these two accessories can be equipped simultaneously, making some aspects of the game easier. For example, it is possible to automatically dodge or simplify combos so that they are activated by selecting a single mode. "Selecting ‘Story Focus’ mode equips these items from the start," as opposed to Action Focus.
Dubbed for Latin America
Final Fantasy XVI will have voices in Spanish, but the Japanese company has decided to use of Latin American voices. This is due to the number of speakers, as stated by Yoshida himself, who does not rule out that other games in the saga may arrive with the misnamed Spanish Spanish (after all, each territory has its own varieties, as the same happens with the Latin variant).
Final Fantasy XVI will be released on PS5 on June 22nd of this year, and will receive a demo before its release.
