Hogwarts Legacy’s success won’t stop growing, and they’ve got the numbers to prove it
Warner Bros. Avalanche has a lot to brag about with Hogwarts Legacy, with the title selling over 12 million copies since its release back in February.
The sales figures do not lie, Hogwarts Legacy has been a massive success for Warner Bros. Games. The game set in the magical world of Harry Potter (but without the titular Boy Who Lived) has not only succeeded in sales but has also kept players coming glued to their controllers. The company has updated some of its numbers, although it has not offered more details about units sold.
"Merlin’s beard!" they posted on Twitter. "An enormous THANK YOU to everyone who has shared in the magic of Hogwarts Legacy.” In total, players have invested 406 million hours into the game. They say that in life you have to plant at least one tree, but those who have immersed themselves in the work of Avalanche have done the same with magical plants: 674 million successful plantings. On the other hand, 405 million potions have been made, while the protagonist has eliminated 2.25 billion dark wizards.
Hogwarts Legacy is delayed again in the previous generation
There was a time when the previous and current generation versions of the game were going to be released on the same day, but Warner Bros. Avalanche admitted to needing more time than expected to make the port to Xbox One and PS4. It was expected to be ready for this April, something that wasn’t possible in the end, since the studio has announced a new delay.
“The team is working hard to deliver the best possible experience on all platforms and we need more time to do this.” The new date is May 5, 2023. The Nintendo Switch version, meanwhile, is still dated July 25.
Hogwarts Legacy has sold 12 million units in just a few weeks. According to GSD figures, it is the most powerful European launch, only behind several FIFA installments.
