All Resident Evil 4 scores and reviews: A new triumph for Capcom?

The embargo on texts and reviews of Resident Evil 4, one of the most anticipated games of this early 2023, has been lifted. After the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, Capcom shows that it is still in good shape with one of the most divisive releases in its history. No one ever questioned its quality, but very radical fans claimed that it was the beginning of the darkest era of the saga, with a fifth and sixth installment more inclined to action than the classic survival horror of the original trilogy and Code Veronica.

But today we have to celebrate because this remake has done fantastically well. In fact, it currently has a fabulous 94 on Metacritic, making it one of the highest-rated games of the year so far.

For now, our colleagues in Spain have had the opportunity to play it and consider it an excellent title. "It is a tribute and an update of one of the great classics of third-person action, capable of improving almost everything it touches and rebuilding with care what needed a facelift," says our colleague Salva Fernandez in his analysis. "The tension and the feeling of not knowing if you can take them all are still there, with waves and hordes of fearsome enemies. With a start that maintains the very high level of the original game, a castle rethought with mastery and a solvent RE engine, it is an almost unbeatable way to recover and update a classic of our medium".
