According to TMZ, police sources reported that Lance Reddick's was found lifeless in his home in Studio City, Los Angeles, this Friday, March 17, 2023, at around 9:30 AM local time. The cause of death is still unclear, though everything indicates that it was a natural death.
Reddick had been on a press tour to promote John Wick 4, which opens in theaters on March 24. According to TMZ, last Wednesday 15, the actor uploaded a video to his social networks in which you could see that he was at home with his pets instead of in the John Wick 4 premiere in New York, though he did not mention why he did not attend the event.
Before his role as Charon, the everlasting and polite receptionist at the Continental in the John Wick saga, Reddick participated in other projects such as The Wire, Fringe, Bosch, Oz and Lost. John Wick 4 is the last movie in which he will appear on the big screen. However, he was also a very successful voice actor, lending his distinctive voice to video games like Destiny 2, in which he gave life to Commander Zavala, as well as animated projects, like Critical Role’s Legend of Vox Machina on Amazon Prime Video.
Reddick also had a starring role recently in the badly received - and subsequently canceled— Resident Evil live-action series on Netflix as a new version of Albert Wesker.
Born June 7, 1962, Lance Reddick was born and raised in Baltimore. He was an actor and musician; Reddick studied classical music composition at the University of Rochester, and also attended the Yale School of Drama, where he graduated in 1994. He leaves his partner, Stephanie Day, a widow, whom he married in 2011.
