God of War Ragnarök might get a sequel, according to Tyr actor

The actor behind Tyr in God of War Ragnarök might have let it slip that we’ll see his character again in the future, raising questions about a possible sequel.

Update:
God of War Ragnarök might get a sequel, according to Tyr actor

This past weekend PAX East was held in the city of Boston, where a retrospective panel took a look at one of the greatest sagas of the last 20 years, God of War. In this panel participated a variety of people who were involved with the series, one of them being Ben Prendergast, actor who plays Tyr and one of the most important characters in God of War Ragnarok, and who dropped a bomb related to the Santa Monica title.

As we have been able to learn, Prendergast was talking about his character, the Norse god of war, hinting that at some point he will make an appearance again. “And I will say this: It isn’t the last you’ve seen of Tyr”, he said about his presence in the last installment in charge of Santa Monica. This isn’t exactly a confirmation of a sequel to the game, but it sure started new discussions among the fans.

Full screen

In a video game... or on TV?

As we know, there is an ongoing project to bring God of War to television happening on Amazon Studios in collaboration with Sony Pictures and PlayStation Studios. However, absolutely nothing is known about whether it will be live-action, animation, or any real details about it... although it is known at what point of the franchise it will be set and it will be during the 2018 reboot. In addition, Prendergast talks about his character, not specifically about himself, so there’s a lot to hypothesize about.

It was a matter of time before there was some kind of adaptation of God of War to the small or big screen since we are talking about one of the great successes of all times by PlayStation Studios, with no less than 23 million units sold. Tyr does not appear in that reboot, but he is mentioned, and as we have seen in the recent adaptation of The Last of Us, PlayStation Studios has no problem introducing flashbacks or changing the story in order to surprise the viewers who have already enjoyed the video game.
