Fortnite Winterfest 2023: All the news and free gifts of the Christmas event
We tell you all about Fortnite’s Winterfest 2023, this year’s Christmas event, which is packed with new features and free gifts.
Fortnite Winterfest 2023 has arrived. This year’s holiday event brings a lot of new content and gifts for all players of Epic Games’ battle royale. In this guide, we’ll summarize what’s new and how to get gifts:
When Fortnite Winterfest 2023 starts and ends
Fortnite’s Winterfest 2023 event started on December 14 at 9:00 AM ET and ends on January 2 at 9:00 AM ET. It is an event that lasts about two and a half weeks, during which we can get 14 gifts, including two new outfits.
It is the Christmas event of the year, although it is a bit weaker compared to other editions, mainly due to the absence of the Nutcracker’s cabin. The menu of gifts from the Nutcracker’s cabin gave the event a little more human warmth, while in this year’s edition, we opened the gifts from a rather bland menu.

Winterfest 2023 still has gifts, but this time there is no Nutcracker Hut. Instead, to get the freebies, we need to do the following:
- Every day at 9:00 AM ET, we log into Fortnite.
- We go to the Quests tab.
- Go to the Daily Gifts section.
- We open the gift.
We can only open one gift per day, and gifts can only be received in order. There are 14 gifts in total, but if we were unable to log in one day, do not worry because they will accumulate. Below is the list of gifts in order of availability and the earliest date you can get them, assuming you log in every day:
- December 14, 2023: Glorious Giftblade Back Bling
- December 15, 2023: GG Chilled emoticon
- December 16, 2023: Holiday Boxy Outfit
- December 17, 2023: Snowfaller Contrail
- December 18, 2023: Slurp Co. Banner Icon
- December 19, 2023: Elite Servo Glider
- December 20, 2023: Bushie Bright Wrap
- December 21, 2023: Blocko Spray
- December 22, 2023: Winterfest Wish Lobby Music
- December 23, 2023: Perfect Pivot Glider
- December 24, 2023: Winterfest Flurry Wrap
- December 25th, 2023: Winterfest Bushranger Outfit
- December 26, 2023: Slap Juice Banner Icon
- December 27, 2023: Bedside Nanner Back Bling
As we mentioned before, if we miss any gifts, they will accumulate and be available until the event’s last day: January 2 at 9:00 AM ET.
Weapons and Items Returning to Fortnite for Winterfest 2023
The following weapons and items will be returning to Fortnite during the Winterfest 2023 event:
- Snowball Launcher: an explosive weapon that launches giant snowballs that explode on contact.
- Icy Grappler: it shoots suction cups and we go where we shoot and when we land we get the effect of frozen feet.
- Sneaky Snowmando: we can use it or use it to disguise ourselves as a snowman.
- Snowy Flopper: used to recover health and get the frozen feet effect.
- Holiday Gifts: They are launched and generate random loot of great rarity.
Fortnite Island is decked out in Christmas decorations for Winterfest 2023
As you would expect, subtle changes have been made to the Fortnite map in the form of Christmas decorations in certain locations. This keeps the holiday spirit alive amid gunfights and building battles.
New Fortnite Winterfest 2023 Quests
As you would expect, Fortnite’s Winterfest 2023 has also brought with it new quests to earn exclusive and themed free items, as well as XP to level up and advance on the Battle Pass. These quests will gradually become available while the Winterfest 2023 event remains active.
New Fortnite Limited Time Mode: This is Ship It! Express Mode
Ship It! Express is a new limited-time mode in Fortnite. It is a Zero Build mode where only weapons and throwable items are available. This new mode, which promises hours of fun and all sorts of absurd situations, is available from the Select tab until January 2, 2024, at 9:00 AM ET.
