2025 Pokémon Latin America International Championship Kicks Off in Sao Paulo, Brazil
Competitors from the region (and other countries) will vie for a spot in Anaheim 2025.
The 2025 Pokémon competition cycle begins this weekend. At the Expo Center in Sao Paulo, Brazil, more than 2,500 competitors from the region (and other countries) will try to earn championship points that will bring them closer to the top competition and a direct invitation to the 2025 Pokémon World Championships in Anaheim, California, in August. In Meristation, we will be there this weekend to watch the players compete in this experience that aims to evolve these regional competitions.
A look at the 2025 Pokémon Latin America International Championships
After a brief but impressive opening ceremony kicked off the games, we spent a few hours inside the competition and found differences and similarities to the world championships we have attended, differences and similarities that are clear. We are not far from a convention center the size of PACIFICO Yokohama or ExCeL London.
You could say that this is a scaled back experience, which makes sense considering the reduced number of competitors. That didn’t stop us from seeing tables full of competitors ready to play, as well as a stage that locals told us was a big leap in quality from previous years, showing an improvement in the event’s production values. While the venues for the finals are there, they lack the production and complexity we have seen in past editions.
As with these competitions, there will be slots for Pokémon TCG-related side events, as well as opportunities to take everything from themed photos to photos with Pikachu to event-exclusive raids on Pokémon GO. While there is no store like the Pokémon Center at World, we did come across local stores that sell official merchandise such as plush, toys, collectibles, and Pokémon TCG packs.
Dates and times of competitions
The Pokémon International Championship of Latin America 2025 will be held from November 15 to 17, 2024. The first qualifiers will be held on Saturday, November 15th, and the finals will be held on Sunday.
You can see the schedule below:
Remember that you can watch the event on YouTube and Twitch. By watching on the latter, and if you have linked your Twitch account with Pokémon, you will be able to receive passwords and codes that can be redeemed in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, Pokémon GO and Pokémon TCG Live.
Stay tuned to Meristation for the final results of this Sunday’s competitions.
