The Witcher 4 brings Ciri back as the main star of a new saga
CD Projekt RED revealed the first trailer for The Witcher 4 during The Game Awards 2024, and with it Ciri’s status as protagonist.
The Witcher trilogy closed the story of Geralt of Rivia as the protagonist, at least for now. After releasing the third installment and its two expansions, CD Projekt RED has begun working on multiple sequels and intellectual properties. Project Polaris, The Witcher 4, has already entered full production, although its release date is still up in the air. What is more tangible is the first official teaser, which confirms the theory of many players: the main character is Ciri.
CD Projekt RED gave the Geralt actor a slap on the wrist
Doug Cockle, the actor who played Geralt of Rivia in the English version, has acknowledged that he was reprimanded by CD Projekt Red for saying that his character was going to be in The Witcher 4. In his opening statements he said that the witcher was going to be part of the cast of characters, although he specified that not as the protagonist. Now, the interpreter has changed his version and has assured that he said it based on an unconfirmed rumor. The Polish studio told him that they had not said anything publicly and gave him to understand that he should refrain from doing so again.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt marked a before and after for CD Projekt RED. The Poles created one of the best RPGs of the generation, but its reputation was seriously damaged by the debacle of the launch of Cyberpunk 2077. It has been months and months of pick and shovel, work that has paid off and has reversed the situation.
