‘28 years later’ wraps up filming, set to release in 2025
Filming for ‘28 years later’ has ended and the upcoming fiml is now in post-production, all in schedule to release next year.
Fans of ‘28 Days Later’ are in luck, because the third installment of the saga—called ‘28 Years Later’— has finished its filming and everything is going smoothly towards its premiere next year. The terrifying infected of the “rabies virus” will arrive in theaters around the world soon if everything goes as planned and there are no setbacks that hinder the studio’s plans.
ScreenRant revealed on Monday that ‘28 Years Later’, the third entry of the ‘28 Days Later’ saga, has wrapped up filming. The movie now enters its post-production phase, the part of the audiovisual creation process in which the recorded footage is edited and assembled, as well as given color correction, audio, and visual effects.
For now, the project is underway at a good pace and without delays, and the film is expected to reach its release date initially planned worldwide: June 20, 2025. At the helm of the project are Danny Boyle and Alex Garland, those responsible for the original 2002 film. Boyle directs and the script is both his and Garland’s. The filmmakers surprised with their statements at the time, since ‘28 Years Later’ is not the only franchise project underway: This is the first part of a new trilogy. The second film of this trilogy, which would be the fourth film in the saga, will be directed by Nia DaCosta (‘The Marvels’) for which filming is expected to begin even before the premiere of ‘28 Years Later’.
What is the plot of ‘28 Years Later’ and which actors participate in the film?
Although the specific plot of ‘28 Years Later’ has not been revealed, by its title it can be expected to take place twenty-eight years after the global pandemic of the “rabies virus” that turns all those who are infected by it into extremely violent individuals without any sense of self-preservation. This virus spread from London to the rest of the world, and although in ‘28 Weeks Later’ (2007) an attempt was made to restore social order, the settlement fell again to the infected.
Although Boyle himself does not consider that the first film was of the zombie genre, the parallels are quite clear and these extraordinarily fast “infected” are also often called “fast zombies”.
The new movie stars Cillian Murphy —who was the protagonist of the first installment in 2002—, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Erin Kellyman, and Edwin Ryding.
