A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead celebrates its release with a chilling new trailer
The new game from Stormind Games will attempt to innovate with unprecedented mechanics for the survival horror category.
After several months of promotion and anticipation, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, the survival horror game based on the popular Paramount Pictures film saga that will try to bring something new to one of the most popular video game genres: survival horror. To celebrate the arrival of the title in stores, Saber Interactive and Paramount have released a final trailer that shows the atmosphere and mechanics that the game will offer to fans of the movies and thriller titles.
Immersion and fidelity
True to the narrative of the big screen franchise, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead will have post-apocalyptic overtones, but will tell an unprecedented story of Alex and her friend Martin struggling to survive in a world infested with alien creatures that rely on sound to stalk their prey.
Thus, the title produced by Stormind Games will seek to innovate by incorporating noise as a key factor in the mechanics, forcing the player to find the quietest way to avoid the obstacles presented both on and off screen.
A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead will force players to be very aware of their surroundings, the surfaces they move on and the objects around them, as well as the sounds of real life. Thanks to the microphone noise detection feature - added via a free update - what happens off-screen is also played, which is definitely a fresh detail in the genre.
Likewise, and judging from what we’ve seen in previous trailers, the narrative component of this spin-off is shaping up to be on par with what we’ve seen in the movies, telling a substantial story that goes a bit beyond science fiction and relies on elaborate cinematics to tell its tale.
We’ll see if all this is enough to make A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead to be more than just a movie-to-video game adaptation like so many others. To spice up the proposition, the game goes on sale at a reduced cost compared to most. The game is now available on Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
