A ‘Stranger Things’ star is the favorite to be the Jean Grey of the new ‘X-Men’

The MCU’s mutant family is starting to take shape and there is already a favorite to become one of them.

After two trilogies outside the MCU - although we saw some nice cameo of the former mutants in ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ - the X-Men are about to land in Marvel’s cinematic canon. The importance of the group will be maximum, and is that the House of Ideas has bet heavily on the X-Men launch a lot of different headers in comic form, and intends to make them gain a greater prominence that so far, remains virtually unpublished in the MCU.

It also seems that Marvel Studios will be looking to young performers, including Sadie Sink, best known for bringing Max to life in Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things. According to Hollywood gossip, Sink is currently the favorite to replace Famke Jansen and Sophie Turner in the role of Jean Grey.

Plus, it looks like we won’t have to wait long to see her debut, as she’ll be appearing in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, which will be released in 2026. After that, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, while to enjoy the first ‘X-Men’ movie we would have to wait for the latter, which means the second half of 2027 at the earliest.

Get to know the X-Men from the comics

Before going to the movies, it is a good option to discover the mutants in the comics. The best and most affordable (by availability, not by price) are both the omnibus with the Eighties run by Chris Claremont, as well as the recent compendium of ‘New X-Men’ by Grant Morrison, a completely groundbreaking run. If you want to go for something more current, we can do it with the staple series currently being published: ‘X-Men’, ‘The Uncanny X-Men’ or the upcoming ‘Astonishing X-Men’, three different groups that are part of the same continuity.
