After 15 years, 6 seasons and a trilogy, one of the most beloved series of our time comes to an end
The Crawley family will say goodbye in style with one final movie set to premiere in a few months

Every beginning must have an end, even for a gem like ‘Downton Abbey’. What started in 2010 as an elegant British period drama quickly grew into a global phenomenon. After six seasons, two movies, and countless awards, the story of the Crawley family and their iconic mansion is finally reaching its definitive conclusion with a third feature film, now officially titled: ‘Downton Abbey: A New Era’.
This final cinematic chapter will once again be directed by Simon Curtis, who also helmed the second film, Downton Abbey: A New Era. Although there’s no trailer yet, the first poster has been released, featuring Michelle Dockery reprising her role as Lady Mary Talbot, one of the most beloved faces of the series. Fan favorites like Hugh Bonneville, Imelda Staunton, and Jim Carter will also return. Additionally, several new cast members have joined, including Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Arty Froushan, and Simon Russell Beale, promising to bring a fresh touch to this grand farewell.

A goodbye without the great Maggie Smith
Not all characters will be present for the final chapter. The late Maggie Smith, who portrayed the unforgettable Lady Violet Grantham, had already made her farewell in the second film and will not appear in this one. Her absence will surely be felt, but it also marks the natural closure of a saga that has evolved with grace.
‘Downton Abbey: A New Era’ is scheduled to premiere on September 12 in theaters across Spain. While the wait is still a bit long, anticipation is already sky-high. Because Downton Abbey wasn’t just a show, it was a journey. And now, after 15 years of capturing the hearts of multiple generations, it’s time to prepare for a grand farewell.
