Star Wars

‘Ahsoka’ star shares news about the series return, and it seems like Star Wars fans will have to wait

The actress behind Sabine Wren has revealed when they plan to start filming for season 2 of ‘Ahsoka’, one of the more successful Star Wars spinoffs of recent times.

Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau are currently immersed in the production of ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’, the first film starring the main characters of the successful Disney+ series. The filming of the movie has just begun, but what happens with other projects such as the second season of ‘Ahsoka’? Some time after the series ended, Lucasfilm announced that it was working on new episodes, but did not say anything about when they would be ready. The project, which is part of MandoVerse - the informal name for all productions set in the same timeline as ‘The Mandalorian’ - will take a while to arrive, according to Natasha Liu Bordizzo, who plays Sabine Wren in the series.

The actress, who was present at DragonCon, shared that filming of the second season of ‘Ahsoka’ will not take place until production on ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ is completed. From her words we can guess that the cast won’t perform in front of the cameras until summer 2025. Furthermore, everything seems to indicate that the series will not arrive until after the premiere of the film, which will take place in May 2026. Be that as it may, the statements of the actors and actresses must always be taken with caution, since it is not the first time they provide incorrect or inaccurate data about filming and release dates.

‘House of the Dragon’ season 3, also in 2026

In recent years, studios have delayed their productions to the point that it is now common for subsequent seasons to arrive years after the debut of the previous one. An example of this is ‘House of the Dragon’, whose second season premiered two years after the arrival of the first. As for the third, showrunner Ryan Condal has confirmed that filming of the next episodes will not begin until early 2025, which means that the third season will not be ready until 2026, when ‘Ahsoka’ will also presumably debut. For next year, HBO is preparing ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’, a new spin-off of ‘Game of Thrones’.

And what about ‘Star Wars’? After the cancellation of ‘The Acolyte’, next on the Disney+ slate is ‘Skeleton Crew’, another of the spin-offs from The Mandalorian.
