Capcom has confirmed the release date for Akuma, the next fighter Street Fighter 6 character to make his way into the game on May 22nd and to announce it they have shown the first gameplay trailer of the popular character. Akuma will be available to all those who own the Deluxe Edition of the game or who have purchased the first-year season pass separately. He is the last character to come to the game in the first year after Rashid, A.K.I, and ED.

Along with Akuma, “important balance updates” and a new stage called Enma’s Hollow will also arrive in the game on May 22, where the character resides on Gokuento Island. Akuma can be played with his new and intimidating appearance, or with the classic one inspired by his version of Super Street Fighter II Turbo.

The long-awaited arrival of Akuma to Street Fighter 6

Akuma’s attacks in Street Fighter 6 are as follows:

  • Gou Hadoken - Akuma’s infamous fireball is back and can be charged up to launch a “red fireball” that gives him more options when hitting or blocking.
  • Ashura Shadow - As in his previous versions, Akuma uses Ashura Senku to glide across the battlefield shrouded in shadows.
  • Adamant Flame - One of Akuma’s new moves, in which he performs a forward lunge engulfed in flames. This move is useful in combos and for exploiting vulnerable opponents thanks to its long range.
  • Messatsu Gohado - Akuma’s level 1 overpower in which he fires a highly concentrated ball of Satsui no Hado.
  • Empyrean’s End - Akuma’s level 2 overpower that turns the Satsui no Hado into a powerful flame and lights it inside the opponent.
  • Sip of Calamity - Akuma’s first Level 3 Super Art, in which he knocks his opponents face down to the ground and deals them a single devastating blow.
  • Shun Goku Satsu or “Raging Demon” - This second Level 3 Super Art can only be performed when your Vitality is low enough for a Critical Art and can be used to finish combos. This time, it allows you to see what happens during the second that the nightmare lasts.
