Alan Wake 2 confirms two upcoming paid expansions alongside free content

Remedy Entertainment has revealed that Alan Wake 2 will have additional content post-launch, including two large paid expansions.

Update:
Alan Wake 2

Horror fans are in luck in 2023, as the most popular writer in video game history is back. Fictional writer, at least. Alan Wake 2 will arrive this fall to delight those who like a great scary story. Despite the controversy of doing without a physical edition, the game couldn’t look better, and we’ll also continue enjoying its stories after finishing it since the studio behind it has confirmed that it will continue to provide it with content after launch.

“We will be supporting Alan Wake 2 post-launch with both free content as well as two paid expansions”, Remedy Entertainment said in an official Q&A post. “The expansions are called Night Springs and the Lake House, but that’s all we are going to tell you about them. For now.”. What is certain is that both will be included in an expansion pass that will in turn be included in the deluxe edition of the game, which will be priced at $69.99 on PC and $79.99 on consoles.

Remedy also talked about the relationship between this game and its predecessor, which they confirm is, as expected, a direct sequel. “Alan Wake 2 is a sequel but set up as a stand-alone experience”, they say when answering the question about whether it will be necessary to have played the first game. “Newcomers can enjoy the thrill-ride with no past knowledge of the previous game. For the returning fans there are tons of lore and connections to be discovered.”

They also revealed that you don’t need to have played Control or its AWE expansion, remembering that both games are set in the same universe. “However, for fans who are into the universe of Alan Wake, it’s definitely recommended, but it’s completely optional.”

Alan Wake 2 will arrive on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 17.
